JVM and JavaScript
JavaScript is different than the JVM.  JavaScript is required and lets you see what others have written with the TFE.  The JVM is optional and lets you write with the TFE yourself.

Make MS Office 2007 documents compatible with MS Office 2003 documents.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office Suite 2003 does not recognize or open documents created with Microsoft Office 2007 unless the MS Office 2007 document is saved in the 2003 format.

If you use Microsoft Office Suite 2003 and receive a Microsoft document that you cannot open, then this may be the problem.  You should be able to open it if the sender saves the document again in 2003 format, per illustration below.
